President Elect – 1 year position then serve as President 1 year and Past President 1 year (3 year commitment)

Our highest need right now is to elect a new president elect! We need your leadership to keep ICDA strong.

The President Elect begins serving on July 1st of the year he/she is elected. The President Elect provides leadership and direction for the annual conference and other organizational events. Planning the conference is much of the work of the entire board and each board member will be assigned part of the work of planning and executing the conference. Arranging speakers/presenters, venue, menu, set up, take down, communication, advertising. The annual conference and some webinars provide continuing education (CEU) for career counselors. The Past President and the ICA representative will help ensure that the program and presenters meet the qualifications for providing CEU training. A request is submitted to the Governors office each year to renew the Proclamation of November as Idaho Career Development Month. A special event including the reading of the proclamation is held during the month of November. A distinguished presenter from the ICDA membership is invited to make a proposal to present during a special session of the ICA conference each year. Other planning support for the ICA conference may be required in order to share in the profits of the ICA conference.

  • ·       Attend all board meetings 30-45 minutes monthly
  • ·       Preform all duties in the absence of the President
  • ·       Serves as chair of the program committee for all organizational conferences
  • ·       Aid in the development and execution of organizational events including but not limited to ICDA annual conference, webinars, Career Development month proclamation, and supporting the ICA conference.
  • ·       Increased time commitment during the first quarter due to planning and coordination of the annual Spring conference.
  • Benefits:
  • ·       ICDA Conference Fee is covered by ICDA, $110 value
  • ·       Reimbursed travel expenses from ICDA for any in person events and meetings
  • ·       Support for ICA and ACA membership fees, $300 value
  • ·       Travel stipend toward NCDA conference fees and travel expenses, $500 value

President – 1 year position then serves as Past President (2 year commitment)

The President Elect begins serving as President on July 1st of the year. The President represents ICDA in public meetings as well as ICA and NCDA meetings. The President also serves as a voting board member for ICA and is invited to attend or delegate an executive board member to ICA Council of Leaders (COL) quarterly meetings. A brief report of activities is submitted to ICA prior to each COL meeting. The secretary can help with these reports. NCDA offers trainings and support through the Trustee for State Divisions. The President would be the main contact with the Trustee and other NCDA board members and would attend the State Divisions meeting held annually at the NCDA conference when possible. The President has organizational and financial support from the secretary and treasurer and works closely with the President-Elect. The President makes assignments to other board members and follows up with regular contact through emails, phone calls, texts etc.

  • ·       Prepare and preside at all organizational, board meetings (1 hour monthly)
  • ·       Serves as committee chair for the executive committee
  • ·       Appoint ICDA members to serve as committee chairs
  • ·       Act as epsofacto member of all committees
  • ·       Represent ICDA at all ICA Council of Leaders meetings (60-90 minutes quarterly) and ICA conference booth for the division (3-4 hours a day during the 2 day conference)
  • ·       Represent ICDA at all NCDA state division meetings (2 webinars and 1 conference session annually)
  • ·       Act as ICDA representative on all contracts, grants, and binding agreements with approval of the board
  • ·       Maintain all archived organizational data
  • ·       Hold and store ICDA marketing and event supplies
  • ·       Increased time commitment during the first quarter due to support and assignments related to the annual Spring conference.

  • Past President – 1 year position
  • The President begins serving as Past President on July 1st of the year after the presidential term. The main responsibility is to work closely with the executive committee and the incoming president to support a smooth transition of leadership. The nomination and election of new board members as well as the recognition of exemplary career professionals are major projects. Coordinating approval for continuing education certificates for counselors who attend conferences and events is also a responsibility. Any other help needed by the board or any committees can be provided. Service continues until a new president has completed their term.

  • Secretary Elect: join the board, attend monthly board meetings, tasks assigned by the current secretary and prepare to serve as secretary.

  • Treasurer Elect: join the board, attend monthly board meetings, tasks assigned by the current treasurer and prepare to serve as treasurer.

  • Awards Committee: join the board, attend monthly board meetings, work closely with the past president to solicit nominations and review candidates with the board for the leadership in career development and career services professional of the year awards. 
  • Publications Committee: join the board, attend monthly board meetings, assist with membership emails, marketing events, and maintaining website content.
  • Website Editor: join the board, attend monthly board meetings, gather, create, and post new website content, keep website content current.
  • Professional Development Chair: join the board, attend monthly board meetings, ensure that conference presentations and webinars qualify for CEUs, work closely with ICA professional development chair for requirements.
